Boiler Fitter

Our client specialise in mechanical and industrial engineering which encompasses a vast range of services to the public and private sectors.

Scope and remit

Responsible for the maintenance of commercial and industrial boilers and the related fixtures and fittings.

Personal duties

  • Preparation of steam and hot water boilers for annual insurance inspections.
  • Overhaul of fixtures and fittings.
  • Removal and installation of refractory.
  • Preparation for non-destructive testing.
  • Cleaning of boiler tubes.
  • Providing technical support to customers and colleagues.
  • Providing customers with regular reports and feedback on their service requests, including the completion of relevant paperwork.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customers.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s health and safety, quality and environmental procedures in accordance with legislation and the company policies.
  • Participation in paid overtime and weekend work.
     
  • In addition to the elements in this job description, this role also includes such other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require.

Knowledge, training and experience required:

Essential

  • Full driving license.
  • A strong proven engineering background within the combustion industry/boiler house maintenance.
  • Field based service engineer experience.
  • Previous experience with manufacturer products including Nu-way, Hamworthy, Saacke, Weishaupt Dunphy industrial package burners etc.
  • Previous experience of current health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Previous experience of ISO standards and accreditation/best practice.
  • Knowledge of steam, hot water and thermal oil boiler plant and digital combustion control.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Gas qualifications; COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1 and CORT1.

Desirable

  • Engineering degree or similar (HNC etc).
  • Gas qualifications; COCPI1 (LS), ICPN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A.
  • IOSH Working Safely and/or Safety passport.
  • PASMA and IPAF.
  • Confined space entry.
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • Lifting and slinging.
  • Experience in a customer facing role.
  • Computer literate.
